Over the weekend

The Platners came to visit.
This weekend was so much better than last weekend as far as visiting went.  Last weekend we had all kinds of things planned.  On Friday the Plattners were to come, Saturday go ice skating with Dean and Amy Kaisner; the snow storm hit cancelling everything.  Needless to say we were sad.  And then on Sunday, Doug and Sam left after church to go to Indiana.  You can read about our Sunday night alone on Rachel's blog.
This weekend was completely different.  Friday night, the Plattner family did get to come and we all had a wonderful time visiting and eating home made ice cream and brownies.  Another snow storm did come Saturday morning, but the roads were cleared by the afternoon.  Bryce and Emily came down Saturday night for supper and to play games.  We discovered a new dice game that we all like except for Emily;)  Sunday, we were invited to the Forest City church to visit with a young girl who had grown up in the church and became a missionary to Brazil.  She and her husband gave a presentation on the work that they've done there for the last 10 years, and we also got to visit with many friends that we haven't gotten to see at the potluck afterwards.  Sunday night, Doug and I had a small date at Subway(thanks to our wonderful merciful kids.) Note: added by Rachel since she is typing this for me because I can't handle her computer mentally or physically.  Then Doug and Rachel went to go see a movie and have a milkshake at Steak n Shake.  We at home, put the littlest to bed, some who weren't feeling well, and the rest of us bigs played games.
All of this was so much better than last week.  My dad thinks this is how he remembers the winter season being when he was younger with snow from November to the end of March.
The rotary sale is in less than 3 weeks.  It is big auction that they have in town every year at this time; I think its really just a reason for everyone to get together and visit.  We're hoping for better weather for that.

Hope you all had a pleasant weekend as well.
Thanks for visiting.
