Family Farm Days

Not too much has been happening at the Whitaker Farm in the past few days. Which in many ways is a blessing. Doug has started spreading fertilizer on a couple farms (Spring! :), and the kids have been at their job, Faith Baptist, or school here. I've been doing what I do everyday and creating a little baby in the process. :) Easy right? Actually is when you have lots of willing help. (usually.:)) This is a pic from Sunday. Liv is helping Em surf the web while eating some cereal.

Umm, remember what I said about help? I normally wash the floor and do the dishes separately, but Rachel and Sam are multi-tasking I guess?!  :)

Once they were discovered and mom didn't have a cow, the fight was on!

Sam was able to get revenge on Rachel as she was trying to dry the windows, walls, floor, knick knacks....

Meanwhile outside last night the kids all decided to do the chores since Rach and Sarah were at a Bible quiz competition up near Shaumberg.

A couple of the Whitaker men, after a day in the field.  Kind of remonds me of the "Been farming long picture."  :)

Do you know what this is from?

Its part of the inside of a 30-40 year old tv. When things break around here or have been broke for a long time. Sam takes it apart to see what's inside. Pretty neat. This belonged to Doug's Uncle Ed and has been out in the garage for years.

In the last couple days Doug and Sam acquired a manure spreader. They had been wanting one for quite awhile, and this one seemed in pretty decent shape.

Coins after they've been run over by a train in town.

Last fall we tries an experiment and made our own "greenhouse" out of hay bales and old windows. It worked. The lettuce, carrots grew all winter, but not very fast. It's amazing that that made it through the blizzard, ice and snow.

One last great sunset picture of Smokey. He was pretty happy to see me since Sarah wasn't home this evening to give him all her attention. He's such a spoiled horse. Well that's about it for the past couple days. The next few look like they are going to be even better. Spring is coming soon! Hooray!!!! :)
