Friends, Family, and the Forest City Sale!

It's been awhile since I've posted! And since I've been awake since 3:00am now seemed like a good time to get caught up on some correspondence, and of course some blogging!

This week Sam harrowed some of the pasture. I think they said they are going to plant some peas and something else, (maybe rye) for the cows and goats to eat.
It turned out great, and I think as you can see from the above video, he had quite alot of fun doing it! :)
Gracies helped Doug one day out in the garage with the shelves. It was her job to take out screws. She worked really hard. Doug said she must have taken out a hundred! (maybe not that many). Anything is fun though when you get to work with dad.
Singing with the kids. They all decided they wanted to pile on the love seat for this picture! :) After singing at night we've been reading heroes of the faith books put out by YWAM. (youth with a mission) They are great! Some wonderful missionary friends of ours introduced them to us about 5 years ago. So now we are re-reading them with the next set of kids. We've been reading at night by candlelight before bed. It's great! The books are short chapters, but very exciting and faith  building. The one we are on now is Lillian Trasher. She is a missionary called by God to Egypt to start an orphanage. It's full of danger, peril, and living by faith and God providing everything they need in this poor area. Get it! Read it! Your kids will love them!  :)
Doug and Livie. :)
Sam picking up the log dog (who no longer smells...see earlier posts!)
The Whitakers, Hamiltons, and Burkes at the Rotary Sale this weekend. It was a cold day. Not much was bought, but there was ALOT of visiting going on!
More singing with the girls, and boys.We were talking the other night to the kids, mainly the littler ones, about why they thought we took time to sing together. And telling them about Eph 5:19.Speaking to yourselves in Psalms and hymns, and spiritual  songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord. So not only is it fun, especially when company comes, but we are singing to/ for the Lord. They were pretty excited about that!  I also catch them singing  the songs that we sing together through out the day when they are by themselves. It doesn't get much better than that.
Some of the animals to be auctioned at the sale.
Rachel going somewhere with the girls. Don't get many pix of her! Well that's about it. It was a fun weekend. The end to a great week. We visited the Springlake church Sunday, They had a presentation done by a jewish ministry group from up by Chicago. It was really interesting. The music was beautiful. We also got to visit with some very dear friends along the way. Can't get much better than that. Can't wait to see what this week will bring. Hopefully good weather!  Well I'd better go, everyone will soon be up and the day will begin! Hopefully there will be a nap later on this afternoon! We shall see...Take care~ The Whitakers :)

  1. Kristie, I love reading your blog and seeing all of your pictures! Your family is inspiring!

I also want you to know that I really appreciate the encouragement you gave me with the comment you left on my blog. I really never thought of it . . . defending other children while standing up for mine. Your comment was such a blessing to me!

Prayerfully, the bullying will stop. My presence at school this past week may help to detour a few of the areas my children seem to be walking through.

It is so true . . . If we are not active participants in our children's lives whether at school, in the community or at home . . . then shame on us. We MUST be active, aware and advocate for our children then, who will?

Hugs and much love to you and yours!
