Turkey Run July 2013

On Sunday we ventured over to Indiana to Turkey Run State Park.  We have been there quite a few times over the years.  It is one of the few places we have found that everyone in our family, every age, can have a lot of fun.   The weather was beautiful for hiking over the trails, occasionally being wet, and being without socks, shoes, and a couple of times for some little boys, without a shirt!
Rach and Sam. You cant tell from this picture, but the rock they are standing on sticks out over the Sugar Creek.

Jacob getting help from his big sister. :)

Doug and Caleb throwing rocks in the sugar creek.

Caleb playing in the water.

Livie in the water. :)
As you can see we spent ALOT of time in this area of the park.  The kids picked up shells, cool rocks, waded in the water, dammed up little streams, played in the sand, and skipped rocks. (Got incredibly wet!) And no one wanted to leave. :)

Damming up the stream. Trying to catch lots of little minnows.

Doug and Caleb hiking up the sides of one of the canyons.

Jacob. He is actually up quite high in this picture. He was climbing up and jumping off everything. Did I mention that all the kids, and parents, slept extremely well Sunday night!  He also lost his shirt in a wading accident that involved one of his big sisters pushing him in!  Can you imagine??

Climbing the roots of a fallen tree.  Its actually pretty big and very high up, but I try not to think about that! :)  I just take the pictures!

Everything was so green and pretty.

Another picture of the tree this time with Sarah sitting on it.  It stretches over a pretty steep incline.

Katie, my little flower. :)
This was Katie's first Whitaker outing to Turkey Run. She slept in her little carrier most of the time. :)  She and I left the climbing to Dad and the big kids. We walked behind, watched everyone play and took lots of pictures! :) It was a very relaxing day outside for the 2 of us!
More minnows. Gracie with her bag.  By the end of the day she had picked up her weight in neat rocks, and shells! :) Ok, maybe not quite her weight, but close!
And that was the end to our day. We had had a wonderful time. Its a place we never get tired of going. There is always something to discover or climb on.  The drive isn't too bad either. So we can do it in a day if we want. That's all for now. Hope your Sunday was a wonderful one as well. Thanks for visiting!
