Christmas 2013

Doug turns 47.
It has been a week filled with family this last week of December 2013.

We started on the 19th with Doug's birthday.  We had all the kids and Grandma and Grandpas over for cake and ice cream. We all had fun celebrating his special day. : )
Dad, Alice, and Katie. : )
Then Dad and Alice came over Sunday to celebrate Christmas here with us.

One of the things they got the kids was a giant cardboard house. That you could color on the outside.
Everybody played in it. Even Dad! : )

Then tragedy struck!   While Emily was leaning close to the carpet one of the little boys remote control cars ran over her hair! Resulting in her lovely hair wrapping around one of the wheels! Bryce came to the rescue, and very patiently freed her from the wheel. Thus, saving the day! : )
Exhibit A

Still smiling. : ) Waiting patiently and calmly. As we were talking about having to cut out large sections of hair to free her, : ) he! he!

Livie got a little laptop which she told her grandpa was very impressive. : )

Katie and her lion. : )

Bryce was checking out some new pj's one of the kids got. ;)

Buddies. : )

Bryce, Em and Livie. : )

Sisterly love.  : )

Caleb got a new tractor that he was sooo excited  about!

Katie, of course, liked the paper. : )

Emily had one of these when she was little. It very sadly (for Em), disappeared. But a new improved, rip free, clean one reappeared on Christmas which was very funny. : )

I was thinking how happy the kids didn't do this in the middle of the night leaving me to find it. I don't think I would recover! : )

Lots of great canning ideas for the coming summer.

A picture with Caleb's eyes open!

Someone caught someone climbing up on the counter! The handles on the drawers make great ladders!
We also spent Christmas Eve day with Doug's family, and then Church that night. The kids did a lot of late night visiting with cousins, and we all played cards.  Dutch Blitz was the favorite. It was a blast.   It always amazes me how quickly the week goes by.    Gracie got her stitches out today.  She is still not trying to put weight on it. The doctor said steri stripped it and said to give it another week. They did something called a "running stitch" when they put her stitiches in and so it took a little longer to get them out. But she survived and should be walking in a another week. Great! : ) Good thing her Dad is strong. He weighed her today at the doctor. She weighed 66 pounds. But Dog thought she weighed more like 200 by the end of the day! : ) That's about all for now. Thanks for visiting!  Hope your Christmas was wonderful too!
