Gracies foot.

It's been snowing here since last night. The weather man thought we would get between 3 and 5 inches of snow, and I believe her may be right this time.  It is still snowing a little this morning.
The snow is hanging heavily on the trees. Making everything look so pretty.

The kids went out last night and made snowmen.

More pretty trees.

And then this happened.........

When I called the kids in last night Grace cut her foot.  They were sliding off the top of the hog shed?? And when she slid off her snow boot came down on a "t" post. Which went through her snow boot and into the arch of her foot!  Dan got her into the house and into the kitchen.  I've never seen a little girl so pale. Poor kid.  It was pretty deep, with a large flap of skin exposing quite a bit of fat, and lots of blood.  This being her good foot, we decided to take her in and have it looked at and stitched up.
All fixed up.
So Doug and Sarah took her into the hospital.  And because of the steady snow it took quite a while to get there (8:00)at night, and quite a while to get home.(2:00 in the morning). She ended up with 7 stitches and everything else looked to be ok. Great! We are very thankful for that! : )
Better this morning.
Getting around will be interesting for her for the next couple days, but we haven't seen too much that stops this young lady! And the other kids have big plans to put her in a sled and pull her around so she can be with them outside! : )Everybody big is still sleeping. A long drive on snowy roads. Sarah's day started yesterday at4:30 am and ended last night at 2 am.  I was grateful for her help at the ER since I couldn't go, and her willingness to jump in and take my place.  (Have I mentioned I have great kids?) I don't think I'm going to wake her up today. ; )
I think today is going to be a slow one around her,  Not what I had planned before 8 last night, but that's ok.  I am thankful everyone is here. Safe and sound in this warm house.  Everything else can wait. It will be here tomorrow. : )   Hope your day is a warm one with family as well. Thanks for visiting. : )

  2. I'm sorry Gracie suffered such a bad wound, but I'm glad it wasn't worse. Has Doug had a conversation with everyone about the need to watch for possible impalement dangers when jumping off roofs?

On a different topic, I'm amused by where your children decide to build snowmen!
