A cold New Year.

Sam pulling Grace, Dan and Caleb on the sleds.
The 2014 New Year is starting out bitterly cold!  The weather man says we will be below 0 for the next few days.  And we will also get 3-6 inches of snow. I'm thankful it is the weekend so my kids don't have to go to work!   Yesterday after chores Sam took a couple of the kids outside to sled. But we called them back in after about 20 minutes.  (I don't think they would have come back in on there own.) : )     Doug went yesterday and bought a large quantity of insulation for the attic. He started installing it yesterday.  I think it is making a difference already. This weekend will be a great time to test it out. We will see how often the furnace comes on.
I found Katie yesterday sleeping with her little lion. : ) One of her brothers and sisters must of thought she needed it. : )
Our New Years was pretty quiet.  Sarah, Sam and Rachel traveled over to Missouri to stay with Josiah and Michelle for a few days and bring back a couple cousins to Illinois.  They all has a great time. No one went to bed early and I think they played a lot of games, ate a lot of junk food and visited with family over there.  Doug and I watched a movie after all our littles went to bed and then we went to bed before midnight ourselves. : )
The kids came back early afternoon on the first.  Then on the 2nd they started throwing up. Happy Day!  Sarah came home from work sick. Rachel was here. Apparently whatever it was hit them both about the same time. Sam was nauseated and sick on his way home from Missouri, but seems to be ok now.  Gracie, an innocent bystander, woke up yesterday morning with a bad stomachache, dizzy and nauseated.  All three were in bed all day.  Olivia , disinfecting wipe in hand, went to all door knobs, light switches, and facets and killed germs for me. : )  We, all who are well, will be doing more of that today.  Since we are all sort of trapped in the house anyway, its a good tome to get everything cleaned and organized so we can start school again on Monday. : )
And that, my friends, is what is happening at the farm so far this year. Cold and sick, but happy to be in a warm house all together. : )W e hope your New Year is the same. (Except the sick part of course. : )   Thanks for visiting. : )

  1. Katie looks really cute with her lion. Oh I would love to go sledding behind the mule sometime. Maybe after this snowstorm comes through and it gets a touch warmer we could head down and join in the fun.
