Christmas is Coming!!

Things have been very busy here in the Whitaker household! Thanksgiving just rushed passed us with tons of fun and memories with family and friends and waaaay too much food.We were able to meet Bryce's family and spent a good amount of time getting to know them.:) The Thanksgiving feast at Gramma and Grampa's was as delicious as ever! And the girls braved the crowds of Black Friday.(and we even got a few deals!)
So, December is the official start of all things Christmas, so first and foremost, the Precision Planting Christmas Party..The Sauders really outdid themselves to make us feel appreciated. It was so beautiful!! Bryce,Sarah and I went, and had a phenomenal time! The food was delicious, the fellowship fun, the singing by the acapella men's group Amazing Love was beautiful, the photo booth for the kids was hilarious...oh, what an evening!!!
Notice the Christmas trees instead of the corn plants?

This tree was probably 20ft tall and beautifully decorated...We look pretty nice too ;)

Then on Saturday we went and got our Christmas tree!!! Which is always an exciting event because something strange/crazy always happens! 2 years ago, Dad wasn't able to go with us to fetch the tree, so Mom and all of us kiddos ventured to Kroger to get one of their nice trees. We were armed with the suburban and tow straps. We could do it right? We got it all securely strapped to the top of the truck and headed for home. We were so excited about getting our tree! We turned on the Christmas music and were singing along very loudly. We were so caught up in our joy and singing and being almost home, that we didn't notice our tree hanging over the side of the truck !!!! So, we had to hop out and strap it back on. Luckily we were only 3or 4 miles from home. So we just drove very slowly after that... at one point it did start to slide off again, so we stuck our hands out the window and held it on.
Last year, we got another Kroger tree, and Dad went with us that time, so the tree was FOR SURE strapped on tight.:) On this trip, we were driving home, and all the little boys were sharing the back seat of the suburban. All of a sudden, Jack looked up and said, "Hey...." We looked back, and there was a MOUSE just sitting on the armrest. Just sitting there! Chilling out! Haha! So, we grabbed some shoes off of one of those poor little boy's feet and grabbed it, and it took a lovely flight out the window. :)
But this year..... nothing happened.I think it had to do with us not driving the suburban. We simply do not fit in it anymore. So, an uneventful tree fetching.
Mom was VERY excited about getting the tree

Sarah and I were having fun singing carols while waiting for everyone to unload from the van.

Little Caleb in his fluffy bear suit!!!!

Now which tree is the one for us?
Jake was very excited about his pinecone he found!

Searching.......

Dad thinks he's found it.
Everyone agrees!!!!

Purchasing the tree.
How many munchkins does it take to carry a tree?

The tree got to ride IN the van

Kiddos eagerly watching the tree being 'beautified'

Christmas is COMING!!!!!

We were also priviledged to attend Lincoln Christian University's 'Christmas in the Chapel". I went with Bryce and his family on Saturday, and Mom,Sarah,Rachel, and Grace went with Gramma on Sunday. It was a fantastic performance. They really do a wonderful job!The play was funny, thought-provoking,serious, the music and singing wonderful, and their commitment to presenting the Gospel very encouraging. I would recommend everyone go to one of their plays sometime in their lifetime. :)
Well, that's all for now. Hopefully we'll be more faithful bloggers with Christmas coming and programs and family get-together s that come with it :)
