What we did on our Spring Break Part 2

The next day we all woke up, ate breakfast, and headed off the Kentucky. Which was only about 20 minutes away from the motel in Ohio. We went to the Creation Museum.

This was a dog walking his man outside the Creation Museum. It was one of the biggest dogs we had ever seen. So, of course, we had to get a picture and share it with you! :)

This was an animated dinosaur that was in an exhibit over our heads. Olivia thought it was a giant bug that was going to get her!

What more can I say? :)

Very sobering.

Also very sobering. Ken Hamm was uninvited to the convention we went to this weekend. There were some speakers there who were NOT teaching from the Bible but from a very secular standpoint. Mr. Hamm spoke up and said basically they shouldn't do this. That what the false teachers were saying wasn't true to God's word. And so they uninvited him. At the convention there were many people with t-shirts and buttons that said they supported Ken Hamm and so did we.

The tree of life.

Satan

Noah's Ark. Em said the museum is starting a project to raise funding to build a life size ark there at the museum.

the flood

And of course, Noah :)

Inside the ark

OK, so after the nuseum we stopped to eat at a very wonderful Cracker Barrel, and then back to Ohio.(As neat as the view, and as Big and awesome as the city is, we like the country best.) So kids if you ever move to the city dad and I will probably never come visit you! :)  Just kidding! :)

And then.....the ordeal begins! Waiting....We got back to the Convention center at 3:30. The Duggars were not supposed to talk until 6:00. Plenty of time right? We were going to look at the large exhibit hall of books, but we thought we'd better go up to the 3rd floor just to see where the Duggars were going to be. When we got there they had lines taped to the floor in rows. 7 of them. When the rows were full they were'nt letting anyone else in. Which explained why the escalators were shut down. So that no one new could come on the floor. We were going to have to wait over 2 hours to just get into the ballroom. They would then refill the lies one more time and no one else would get in. This really irritated me. We bought 10 tickets in January. Someone had sold too many tickets. And they were trying to figure out what to do about it. This, to me, was a very BAD idea. You see, our whole family was not here. 3 of our kids Olivia,2, Sam,10, and Rachel were out in the van waiting for Olivia to wake up.  We were now told they would not be allowed up on the floor we were on.  And so my irritation grew. We had bought tickets, but they were no good. The only way to get in was to wait in line. 7 of us were on the third floor. 3 of us were in the main lobby. They would not let them come up, and if we went down we forfeited our spot. We would be in line at least 2 hours, and then the presentation was at least 2 hours. =at least 4 hours without being able to get to my family. I was not handling this well. This was also the case with others sitting around us. Who were told their families were too late and they could forfeit their spot, but the other tickets they had for their families were worthless. By this time I was thinking  Who on earth put on this thing???? Anyway, we were lead into the ballroom, and Doug finally got downstairs to see to the kids. He missed the show he wanted to see. Frustrating.    So finally about 1/2 way into the Duggars I did calm down and I was glad to have seen it, but if I had any idea it would have been this way, I would have skipped it.  I mean, as inspiring to me as they are, they are just people, and I can be inspired and learn from some of their examples on the internet you tube.  I am certain if someone would have told Michelle Duggar we are going to seperate you from some of your smallest kids, she would have felt the same way.  Anyway, all turned out alright. Doug took the kids out to the van, and they watched the interesting night life that comes out on Saturday night in the middle of the city. I'm soooo glad we did not leave them alone.

Waiting.....

These were the people behind us waiting

these were the people in front of us waiting.

They Duggars gave their testimony and then the kids performed with some of their instruments and sang songs.

After the Duggars was over we drove back to Crawfordsville IN that night. We got the same room we had a couple nights before. They had fruit loops on the breakfast buffet. Gracie and Liv filled up a bowl of dry ones and brought them back to the room. Ahhh the joys of junk food and vacation! :) After sleeping in, breakfast, and an hour or so of swimming, we headed back to IL.

Em took this. It's a red neck gas cap lock!  :) he! he!!

Sarah :)

When we got to Champaign IL we stopped at Subway and ate, and then found a park to play in for awhile. It was so beautiful out on Sunday! And nice to be out of the van.

resting in the sun. :)

Dan & Rach on the slide

More resting. :)

Doug and Rachel testing each others strength. Can you tell whose winning?

Beautiful Em. :)

I think between full bellies, and the sunshine, they were all sleepy! After playing we found of all wondrous delights....A Dairy Queen!!!! It was the perfect ending to our vacation!  :)  Oh happy day!!!

Once we got home Rach got a picture of one of these planes fling over the house. Usually 2 of them do at least once a day.

We rested for about a half hour, checked the animals, and then began the unpacking. The next day was Monday which meant work, and school. And there was no way we could leave getting back in order to the next day. So everything unpacked, put away, supper, dishes, baths, and BED!  To quote a very famous Dorothy: There's NO Place like Home!".

And that was what we did on our Spring break. One week. Three states, lots of cleaning, organizing, and together time. What more can I say? :) Now back to life, onto finishing school, and planting the fields.
Thanks for visiting, Good Night!  :)

  1. I would have been so frustrated!!! We went last year and saw Tim Hawkins. It wasn't nearly as crowded!

I dare say, the Ken Hamm un-invite will definitely have people rethinking if they will or will not attend next year.

You all look like you had a great time . . . regardless of the crazy convention people..

  2. Looks like a wonderful way to spend a spring break! But...my favorite part is the sunset picture. Absolutely gorgeous. Oh so true, "There's no place like home!"

  3. I can't believe they stopped letting people in! The ball room wasn't full and they had the Jr Ballroom set up for overflow! We sat for a long time and hardly anyone was coming in!!!

We were on the left side of the room.

I plan on ordering the Michelle Duggar talk, it was exceptional! At least to me, it was just the encouragement I was looking for.

Too bad it didn't work to run into each other, at least for a minute or two!

Glad you had a good time! :)
