A new calf.

Going out to see the new calf born that morning. :)
On Wednesday morning we found a new calf out in the pasture. We had been waiting for it come, and it finally did sometime in the middle of the night.  I think the mama cow was just waiting for us to leave her alone!  :)
Olivia and I walking through the alfalfa.

Doug decided to milk the mama cow since she was very full of milk and her new calf was having trouble nursing.  And of course, neither the mama cow or calf wanted to go up to the barn. So, my strong farmer husband had to carry the cow up from the pasture!

He said this way was alot easier.  By the way she is 50% Jersey and 50% Angus. Just in case you wondered. And I believe her name is Daisy.  :)

The mama cow followed for sure at this point, but maybe just a little too close! :)

Liv helped Dad get the calf latched on after we milked out 3 gallons of colostrum.

This picture doesn't really do it justice, but this milk is almost  orange.  Which is really great for the calf, but I cannot imagine drinking a glass of it!

Sarah and I planted some flowers to go in the window boxes.

Smiley little Caleb who makes everything sweeter around here. :)

Bye! :)
Lifes been pretty busy around here. Doug is still planting seed corn.  Which has to be planted 3 different times.  But is going well.  Thankfully everything is holding together.  We did have a 3 day stretch in which the planter was broke down.  The mechanics had a terrible time trying to figure out what was wrong with it.  Sometimes all the computerized technology only makes life more difficult!  But, that is behind us and things are going again. :)

The kids at Faith only have a few days left of school, and then Sarah will graduate on Friday the 18th of May.  And then the wonderful summer will begin!  Gardening, canning, playing outside and being together!  Can't wait. :)

Well, that's all the now! ~Thanks for visiting!  :)
