So many things have happened in the last few days since the new year began!
Yesterday my Sarah, Sam, Gracie, and Dan went back to school. I am glad today is Friday, and they will be home for the weekend. :) It is a great school, they are learning alot. So I am thankful for that, but I miss the time I had with them when we homeschooled. Having them home for the last 2 weeks was heavenly.
We also worked on, and completed a few projects outside. Can you believe this weather? At first I was sad that we had no snow thus far in the season. But then I considered the possibility of work projects outside with Doug being aroung a little more. I must say I am now looking forward to every warm day, and the chance to catch up on a few things! :)
I was also thinking of New Years resolutions. I don't really have many. Most of them are things / goals I want to accomplish this year with my kids. One of the first is to get a couple to sleep all night. We are working on that one this week. Hopefully this will be a skill quickly learned! :)
My other fun goal is to learn to sew! I am so excited about this one! I can do some basic sewing. Having 5 girls and trying to dress them somewhat modestly has made me learn. But as far as really knowing what I am doing without alot of frustration...let's just say I have minimal skills! :) And I have been blessed with some great friends who have a gift, to say the least!!
Also, another wonderful friend gave me an idea to post 1000 gifts / blessings from God this year. That would be about three a day. :) In a house our size it can be easy to get discouraged at times. So I thought this would help me keep perspective on days when I am feeling less than blessed! :) The gifts God has given me today would be......
1.) Warm weather to play with my kids in.
2.) A husband who works hard for our family.
3.) Good friends who can sew and teach me! :)
Those are just a few things I have been thinking of. The biggest goal of all, after loving the Lord with all our hearts souls and minds, of course. It to put people first this year. And not get so caught up in stuff. House, chores, schedules....stuff. All very necessary, but my family is the only reason to do any of these things. So if the stuff is less than perfect or has to be let go of some to take time to look into their little/ big faces, play with them, listen or read to them, that's what I want to do differently this year.
We recently played a game and one of the questions asked was what is a favorite childhood memory for my kids. Guess what! It had nothing to do with the cleanness of the house, landscaping, slaved over healthy food, school. They ALL said something about spending time together! So I want to be in the memories this year, and not so busy doing stuff that I can't participate in them! :)

Kristi, I love your idea to list 1000 blessings. What an encouragement you are to me! Happy New Year to you and your beautiful family!
